OATLY HELPS TACKLE THE UK’S FIBRE GAP WITH THE LAUNCH OF NEW FIBRE OAT DRINKS
Getting 5g of fibre in your daily drink has never been easier

Oatly, the world’s original and largest oat drink company, has today announced the launch of two new oat drinks designed to make it easier to add more fibre to everyday habits: Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition.
Fibre is an important part of a balanced diet, yet most people in the UK aren’t getting enough. Just 4% of the UK population currently meets fibre recommendations, while the average adult consumes around 14g less fibre per day than the UK Government recommended adequate intake of 30g[1].
Oatly’s new products are designed to help make up some of that shortfall through simple, everyday choices. Each 250ml serving (roughly one oat latte) delivers 5g of fibre - that means adding more fibre to your day could be as simple as changing the oat drink you make your post-gym shake with or pour into your coffee.
Included in the range is Oatly Fibre Barista Edition, a high-fibre oat drink made with coffee in mind. Delivering 5g of fibre per 250ml serving (that’s roughly one oat latte), it has been developed to perform in coffee without compromising on taste or texture. It is also low in sugars and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, vitamins B2 and D.
For those looking for something a little lighter in taste, Fibre Low-Cal Edition is a low-calorie, high-fibre oat drink delivering 5g of fibre per 250ml serving, with zero sugar. Ideal for smoothies, shakes and other beverages, it contains 20 kcal per 100ml, is low in fat and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, vitamins B2, and D.
Both drinks are designed to help contribute to daily fibre intakes without requiring a dramatic change to your daily habits. Because sometimes adding more fibre can be as simple as changing what you pour into your coffee, cereal or smoothie.
Fibre isn’t just a trend for Oatly, it’s part of its history. Oats are nutrient dense, rich in fibre and contain beta-glucans (a type of natural soluble fibre), alongside other beneficial fibre components. With more than 30 years of research and innovation in oats, Oatly has developed deep expertise in oat nutrition and in how to retain parts of the nutritional properties of oats when developing its range of drinks.
Kate Overy, Registered Nutritionist and Nutrition Science & Communications Lead at Oatly, says:
"We designed Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition to make it easier to incorporate more fibre into everyday diets. With most people in the UK not consuming enough fibre, getting an extra 5g can be as simple as choosing an oat drink that's designed with fibre in mind. It’s a convenient, everyday choice that can help contribute to fibre intake without dramatically changing daily habits."
New Oatly Fibre Barista Edition and Oatly Fibre Low-Cal Edition are available in Sainsbury’s now with an RRP £2.40, with further retailers stocking the range from throughout October.
SITEMINDER UNVEILS DYNAMIC COMMERCE ENGINE TO CLOSE THE ‘EXECUTION GAP’ IN HOTEL DISTRIBUTION
SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel commerce platform, has unveiled its Dynamic Commerce Engine to close the ‘execution gap’ in how hotels maximise revenue across all their commercial levers, including pricing and, for the first time, distribution.
Until now, hotels have been limited by technologies that have surfaced only pricing recommendations upon request. SiteMinder’s Dynamic Commerce Engine will go deeper, using machine learning (ML) and AI to surface and execute optimisation recommendations across every commercial lever for a hotel, both at the pricing layer and uniquely at the foundational distribution layer, where underlying issues can significantly limit revenue. These include broken distribution channel connections and unmapped room types, which often go unnoticed and contribute to a multi-billion-dollar opportunity cost for hotels.
The engine will be powered by an unmatched scale of data and distribution capability within the hotel industry. SiteMinder’s platform, used for 20 years by hoteliers, including those at 56,000 individual properties, today powers 2.6 million hotel rooms, 140 million reservations and 300 million room nights every year. Its built-in ML model will leverage these, nearly 4 billion availability, rates and inventory (ARI) signals, to score optimisation opportunities for each property and then surface the most valuable recommendations. Designed as AI-enabled with hoteliers in control, users will then approve every recommended change before the engine executes.

The Dynamic Commerce Engine comes at a pivotal time for hotels, with new SiteMinder research highlighting the need for a hotel’s online presence to stay accurate and consistent. In a survey of more than 12,000 travellers across 14 countries, more than half (51.4%) admitted to abandoning an online hotel booking because of a bad experience. At least one-in-four (26.5%) said it was due to the reviews, photos or details not feeling trustworthy.
“Hotels want to keep up with today’s changing travel landscape, but they don’t have the time or resources to do it and so doing the bare minimum of staying ‘online’ becomes the easiest choice. This is a choice that too many hotels have made for too long, and what it has led to is an intention-action gap – an execution gap. SiteMinder’s Dynamic Commerce Engine is testament that AI has widened the execution gap for hotels, and that AI can also close it with hoteliers staying firmly in control,”
says Sankar Narayan, CEO and Managing Director of SiteMinder.
“Reports and AI assistants are no longer enough. Hotels need to know which opportunities actually matter, without having to ask their system, and to be able to convert those opportunities into revenue. This is what we’re making possible. Pricing can’t be the only focus; the same focus is needed for the distribution layer—the foundations—underneath, which has a direct impact on the guest experience. It’s only with an optimised distribution setup that a guest can know if a room is available, at the price they're willing to pay.”
SiteMinder’s Dynamic Commerce Engine will go live over the coming months and hotels can register their interest here.
BC SOFTWEAR LAUNCHES NEW TEXTILE RECYCLING SOLUTION
Leading hotel and spa textiles supplier, BC SoftWear, has partnered with Avena Group, a specialist textile repurposing company, to launch a new end-of-life recycling initiative for the spa and hospitality sectors.
Through the partnership, BC SoftWear is strengthening its commitment to sustainability by supporting circularity in textiles. BC SoftWear’s customers can now access Avena's SecureBrand®, a reliable end-of-life recycling solution that helps them to reduce textile waste while supporting their environmental objectives.

Used towels, bathrobes, slippers, spa linens and any other end-of-life textile products are collected by Avena Group and, wherever possible, repurposed into new products. These include composite building materials such as insulation, sound boarding, geotextiles and fibre reinforced concrete, keeping valuable resources in use for longer. For businesses whose textiles carry identifiable branding, the SecureBrand® process permanently removes logos, monograms and bespoke designs during processing, ensuring brand security.
By extending the life of textiles and diverting them from landfill, the initiative gives hotels and spas a practical, measurable way to strengthen their sustainability credentials and support responsible resource management.
“We have always been committed to running our business in the most sustainable way possible, from designing products that are made to last to continually reducing waste across our supply chain,” says BC SoftWear founder and CEO, Barbara Cooke. “We are all too aware of the impact end-of-life textiles and single-use slippers have on the environment – 92 million tonnes of textile waste ends up in landfill every year – so we’re delighted to be partnering with Avena to provide our customers with a trusted, secure solution for recycling products at the end of their useful life.”
As a Certified B Corp™, BC SoftWear has a long-standing commitment to helping customers make responsible choices throughout the lifecycle of the products they purchase.
“Thanks to Avena's innovation, our products go on to live another life once they've been used by hotel and spa guests,” adds Cooke. “It's our way of supporting the circular economy – giving our customers a seamless solution that combines premium textile supply with responsible end-of-life management.”
Long-standing BC SoftWear customers the five-star Scottish hotel Gleneagles has already signed up to the scheme to recycle its slippers, while Guarantee Laundry is using Avena to recycle end-of-life textiles. Customers interested in joining SecureBrand should contact enquiries@bcsoftwear.com.

LE CHEF ENTERS A NEW ERA WITH A REFRESHED IDENTITY, NEXT-GENERATION CHEFWEAR AND A MOVE TO TENCEL™ LYOCELL
One of the UK's best-known professional chefwear brands is entering a new chapter as Le Chef unveils a refreshed brand identity, innovative new product range and the introduction of TENCEL™ Lyocell across its chef jackets and trousers.
The relaunch marks the most significant investment in the brand for many years, bringing together a refreshed visual identity, new product architecture and garments designed to meet the changing needs of today's professional kitchens while remaining true to Le Chef's long-standing philosophy of being Built to Last.
Founded in 1993 by award-winning chef and designer Mark Gregory MCA, Le Chef has earned a reputation for combining practical kitchen experience with thoughtfully designed, durable chefwear worn by hospitality professionals around the world. Made by Dennys since its launch in 1993 and part of Dennys Brands since 1997, Le Chef has continued to evolve and is now worn by chefs in more than 40 countries.

As part of the relaunch, Le Chef has introduced a clearer brand architecture designed to make the range easier to navigate while better reflecting the diverse needs of today's hospitality professionals.
Le Chef Pro replaces the previous Professional collection, bringing classic chefwear into the modern professional kitchen. Thoughtfully redesigned with lighter, technologically advanced fabrics and practical features including Le Chef’s StayCool ventilation system, the range is built around the performance, comfort and durability required through the heat, movement and long hours of professional service.
Alongside Pro, Le Chef Artisan brings a more relaxed approach to modern chefwear, combining contemporary style, comfort and practicality. Designed for chefs, cooks and food professionals who want greater individuality from their workwear, the collection includes fashion-led garments and premium aprons that bring together craftsmanship, versatility and the durability expected from Le Chef.
Extending the refreshed Le Chef identity beyond professional chefwear is Le Chef Casual, a new collection of premium leisurewear and accessories for life beyond the kitchen. Featuring hoodies, joggers, T-shirts, caps, socks and bags, the range has been created for commuting, travel and downtime while maintaining a connection with the profession.
Supporting the refreshed identity is a new dedicated Le Chef website at www.lechefuniforms.com. The site brings the new brand architecture to life online, allowing chefs, operators and distributors to explore the Le Chef Pro, Artisan and Casual ranges, review product features and access stockist and buying information in one place.
A significant part of the relaunch is the move towards TENCEL™ Lyocell across Le Chef jackets and trousers. Produced from sustainably sourced wood fibres using a closed-loop manufacturing process, TENCEL™ Lyocell offers significantly lower water consumption than conventional cotton while also delivering improved comfort, breathability and durability for busy professional kitchens.
The relaunch was marked with an event at Le Chef's Berners Street showroom in London on 14 September. Chefs were invited to bring a rising star from their team, with each rising star receiving a Le Chef jacket in recognition of the next generation of hospitality talent. All attendees also received a Le Chef goody bag.
Mark Gregory MCA, founder of Le Chef, said:
“Le Chef was created because I believed chefs deserved clothing designed by someone who truly understood the realities of the kitchen. That principle has never changed. What has changed is the way chefs work, the environments they work in and the expectations placed on their kit. This next chapter is about staying true to the original spirit of Le Chef while making sure the brand continues to serve the chefs of today and tomorrow.”
Richard Ebbs, Managing Director of Dennys Brands, added:
“Le Chef has enormous heritage, but heritage only has value if you continue to invest in it. This relaunch gives the brand the focus, clarity and momentum it deserves, while making it easier for chefs, operators and distributors to understand the role Le Chef can play in modern professional kitchens. It is an important step for Dennys and a clear signal of our commitment to chefwear.”
For Dennys Brands, the relaunch represents more than a visual refresh. It signals renewed investment in one of hospitality's most respected chefwear brands, positioning Le Chef for the next generation of professional kitchens while remaining true to the values on which it was founded.

Key features and benefits
The integration delivers a range of operational and commercial advantages, including:
- Real-time, two-way data exchange between Apaleo’s API-first PMS and the IDeaS revenue management platform

“AI is quickly moving from experimentation to practical application across hospitality, creating opportunities for operators to better understand guests, empower employees and make smarter decisions across the business,” said Pitsikalis. “At the same time, guest expectations continue to rise, making connected data and technology increasingly important to delivering personalized experiences while identifying new opportunities to grow revenue. NoVacancy brings together hospitality leaders from across the region, and I look forward to sharing practical approaches operators can apply as they plan for what comes next.”
The sessions being presented by Pitsikalis at NoVacancy include:

In this keynote address, Pitsikalis will examine how hospitality organizations are putting AI to work today across the guest journey and hotel operation. Drawing on real-world hospitality use cases, he will explore how connected guest data, conversational AI, intelligent automation and AI-powered decision-making can help properties address labour challenges, improve productivity, personalise guest interactions and identify new revenue opportunities. Attendees will gain a practical perspective on where AI is delivering value today and the foundations operators need to scale its impact across their organisations.

CONCERN OVER VISITOR LEVIES
UKHospitality Chair Kate Nicholls warns that the introduction of visitor levies across the UK risks damaging tourism, increasing costs for holidaymakers and placing further pressure on hospitality businesses already facing rising operational challenges.
Holidays are here! And so, sadly, is the holiday tax.
At least it is north of border, where Edinburgh has become the UK’s first city to a introduce a ‘visitor levy’.
It’s something UKHospitality has long campaigned against, and we’re among a coalition of business, hospitality, tourism, countryside and travel groups that have signed a letter to the Government urging it to stop the holiday tax.
In it, we warn new Chancellor John Healey about the devastating effects such a tax will have on families, jobs, tourism and the wider UK economy:
There are no winners from a holiday tax. Holidaymakers, hotels, B&Bs, guesthouses, holiday parks, pubs, restaurants, shops, tourism, visitor attractions, indoor leisure, farm shops, events, music, sports and business travel will all be hit.
And holidaymakers themselves will be faced suddenly with an extra £100 on a typical two-week break.
Analysis from Oxford Economics estimates that there will be a clear negative impact on businesses and employment across the whole economy – with 33,000 fewer jobs, a hit of £2.2 billion to GDP and a £1.6 billion tax hike in a cost-of-living crisis.
Unsurprisingly, the public are also against the holiday tax, with twice as many opposing (56%) the tax, as those supporting it (24%).
Since 24 July, overnight visitors to Edinburgh have been paying an additional 5% charge on their accommodation.
UKHospitality Scotland has urged other local authorities against following suit, but Glasgow, Aberdeen and Stirling councils have already voted to introduce their own charges, with several more local authorities consulting on introducing a levy.
In Wales, UKHospitality Cymru has renewed its opposition to similar proposals, and in consultation response to Ynys Môn (Anglesey), Conwy and Gwynedd we’ve reiterated our long-standing opposition to a holiday tax, warning that it will cut visitor numbers, place destinations at a competitive disadvantage and create additional red tape for businesses already facing significant cost pressures.
The visitor economy in England, Scotland and Wales is a major employer and economic driver, and rather than introducing taxes that put the brakes on growth, government and local authorities across the UK should instead be encouraging more people to visit and to stay longer.
You’ll have heard it before, but it bears repeating: holidays are for relaxing, not taxing!

JOURNEY SHOWCASES ITS EXPERIENCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, A NEXT-GENERATION SPA PLATFORM
Journey has today announced the wider availability of Journey’s Experience Management System (EMS), its next-generation platform for spa, wellness and leisure management, which is already live and being adopted by clients as they migrate from legacy CORE by Premier Software technology.
Building on more than 30 years of hospitality expertise following the acquisition of Premier Software in 2023, Journey’s EMS brings this knowledge into a modern, connected platform designed to support the evolving needs of today’s hospitality businesses.

While rooted in spa management, Journey EMS extends beyond traditional spa operations to help hotels manage the wider guest experience – from treatments, memberships and leisure facilities to activities, experiences and other bookable services. Already live with independent hotels across the UK, EMS marks the next chapter in Journey’s spa and leisure technology.
As hospitality businesses look beyond room revenue to protect margins and drive growth, operators are placing greater emphasis on experience-led stays and other revenue streams. PwC UK’s Hotels Forecast 2025–2026 highlights the need for hotels to diversify their revenue mix as the sector adapts to changing guest expectations.
Built specifically for experience-led hospitality, EMS gives luxury hotels and resorts a single platform to manage the operations behind every guest experience and monetise every moment - from spa and wellness to leisure and memberships - alongside bookings, guests, staff, payments and day-to-day operations.
A centralised, real-time diary gives teams live visibility of staff, rooms, facilities and resources across multiple departments. Hotels can manage bookings, memberships, group activities, guest arrivals, billing, retail, stock and reporting through one connected platform, with integrations to leading property management systems, including Oracle Opera, Mews and Guestline, alongside Journey’s Gift Voucher platform for gift voucher redemption.
EMS forms the operational core of Journey's Total Revenue Platform, working alongside Journey's All-In-One Booking Engine, and Gift Voucher solutions to help hotels market, book and manage guest experiences through one connected ecosystem.
EMS is already supporting hotels across the UK, with Journey continuing to invest in the platform while guiding customers through a structured migration programme. Gisborough Hall is one of the first hotels to benefit from the platform.
Vicki Jackson, Spa Director, Gisborough Hall, said: “EMS has given us much more commercial visibility. We can see where there are gaps in the business and where there are opportunities to maximise performance. Having that information clearly visible saves me time, which means I can focus on developing the team and, most importantly, making sure our guests have the best possible experience.”
Simon Bullingham, CEO of Journey, said: “Hospitality has evolved well beyond selling rooms. Today's hotels are managing increasingly sophisticated guest experiences across spas, wellness, leisure and memberships, and they need technology that's built around those operations.
EMS isn't a vision for the future - it's already live, already supporting customers and already delivering value in real hospitality environments. As we continue investing in the platform, we're giving our customers the operational foundation they need to simplify complexity, unlock new revenue opportunities and support their business for the long term."
Today’s announcement marks another milestone in Journey’s strategy to give hotels a single platform for marketing, booking and managing guest experiences. Together with Journey’s All-In-One Booking Engine and Gift Voucher solutions, EMS connects guest-facing commerce with day-to-day operations, creating a more seamless experience for guests and a more efficient operation for hotel teams.
