Virgin Hotels Collection has appointed Joe Margison as its chief executive, confirming him in the permanent role after serving as interim CEO since October 2025.
Joe has spent more than a decade with Virgin Group, most recently as chief commercial officer, and brings more than 25 years of experience spanning investment, finance, real estate and branded businesses. Before joining Virgin, he held senior roles at the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and Ernst & Young.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Virgin Hotels Collection, which comprises lifestyle brand Virgin Hotels and luxury portfolio Virgin Limited Edition.
Together, the two brands operate a portfolio of 16 properties across the US, Caribbean, Africa and Europe, with a pipeline of landmark developments in key gateway cities and resort destinations. Upcoming openings include Virgin Hotels Atlanta at Centennial Yards and Virgin Limited Edition’s new property in Marrakech, both scheduled to welcome guests in 2027.
Commenting on his appointment, Joe said: “Having led the Virgin Hotels Collection team for seven months, I have seen first-hand the strength of this business and the opportunity ahead. Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition are distinct brands united by the same Virgin spirit – brilliant people, service with real warmth and character and experiences guests remember long after they leave.
“We have a strong foundation and a significant opportunity ahead. I’m excited to lead the business through its next chapter of growth.”
Peter Norris, chair of Virgin Hotels Collection, said: “Joe’s appointment as chief executive reflects the leadership he has shown since stepping into the role. He has brought clarity, confidence and renewed focus to the business while continuing to champion Virgin’s distinctive spirit and experience-led approach to hospitality.
“We are delighted to confirm his permanent appointment and look forward to the next phase of growth under his leadership.”
