Historic hotel launches after major renovation project that celebrates its French heritage.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,100 hotels across more than 95 countries, today announced the upcoming opening of the upscale 178-room Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel. Located in the heart of France’s Yvelines region and minutes from the world-renowned Palace of Versailles, the property was once owned by the Oberkampf-Mallet family and has been fully renovated by 2BDM Architects, one of France’s most prominent architectural studios specialising in preserving historic buildings, monuments and gardens.

Expected to open in December 2023, Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel will offer 14 hectares of beautiful gardens surrounding the estate, two restaurants, a bar with a stunning terrace and a state-of-the-art conference centre with 18 meeting rooms and a 550 sqm Baccarat ballroom, making it the largest in the region. Guests of the hotel will also have access to the Spa du Moncel by Sothys, including a heated indoor and outdoor pool, a sensory shower, snow cave, sauna, fitness room and seven treatment rooms. The luxurious hotel is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Paris-Orly Airport and a short walk from the Jouy-en-Josas Train Station. Guests will feel worlds away from the centre of Paris, which can be reached in 30 minutes by train.

As part of the restoration of the Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel, 2BDM Architects reinstated the famous Toiles de Jouy print in the décor of the guestrooms. First manufactured by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf in the 20th century, in the town of Jouy-en-Josas where the hotel is located, the printed canvas is significant to the history of the hotel and the town. When guests arrive at the hotel, they will be greeted by two renowned works of art: “Long Term Parking” by Arman (1982), a sculpture of 59 cars encased in concrete to form an 18-metre tower and “Hommage à Eiffel” by César (1989), a monumental, 3-metre-high plaque made from pieces of the Eiffel Tower. The interior design and scenography were led by Flamant Interior Design (FID) and Frank Neau, a well-known landscape gardener, was responsible for the exterior architecture and garden of the Domaine du Montcel, one of the few remaining English gardens that have been preserved.

Jackie Brown, Regional Director – North & West Europe, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, commented: “Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel is a fantastic representation of our Dolce by Wyndham brand, which is recognised as a leader in the groups and meetings space as well as for its superior cuisine and thoughtful amenities. Olivier Bigot, General Manager, Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel, added: “The history of Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel can be traced back to the 18th century and each room has been authentically redesigned to celebrate and reflect the French heritage of the estate.
