Essex based property, Down Hall Hotel, Spa & Estate has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its fine dining restaurant, Garden Room. 

Restaurants who are awarded 2 AA Rosettes aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency. A greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there is obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.

Garden Room is led by Executive Chef Robert Pearce who joined Down Hall in 2022, alongside a newly appointed management team – General Manager, Linden Beattie; Deputy General Manager, Erhan Karadag; and Head Chef, Sam Blunnie – all of whom have played a key role in achieving this award. Pearce has over 16 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, working at D&D London, before joining Orsett Hall Hotel where he played an integral part in helping the restaurant gain 2 AA Rosettes, with desserts recognised as 3 AA Rosettes standard. Pearce’s menus at the Garden Room showcase the best seasonal British produce, which is grown in Down Hall’s one-acre kitchen garden, championing local ingredients in a luxurious setting.

Down Hall is one of England’s most established country house hotels, set within 110 acres of landscaped gardens and woodlands, and recently won ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ at the East of England Tourism Awards 2023. The 19th century Italian mansion, which is located just 45 minutes from central London, features 98 bedrooms, a spa and fine dining restaurant. Garden Room is open from Monday-Sunday, 6:00pm-9:30pm. The menu features a range of seasonal dishes, reflecting Robert’s devotion to his craft and passional for local, British ingredients.
