Silentnight, the country’s most trusted sleep brand, has partnered with Heartwood Inns to become its beds supplier as it continues to invest in sustainability and guest comfort.

Silentnight will initially be rolling out its Performance Gel mattress to Heartwood’s first pub with rooms, The White Horse in Dorking.

The products have been developed with sustainability front of mind – a feature crucial to Heartwood as it drives to make every part of its operations as sustainable as possible.

The Performance Gel mattress has a breathable gel comfort layer which actively responds to movement and provides optimum pressure relief. This is supported by zoned pocket spring support, which responds to pressure and movement. Each bed will also be made with Smartstore and non-storage bed bases using Forest Stewardship Council-approved wood.

All of the beds and mattresses, which are recyclable, are manufactured at Silentnight’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.

Heartwood cited Silentnight’s sustainability credentials as a key driver behind its decision. It prides its restaurants and pubs as some of the most ethical and sustainable in the country and boasts a three-star Food Made Good rating from The Sustainable Restaurant Association – the highest accreditation available.

Richard Ferrier, CEO at Heartwood, said: “Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of all of our decisions concerning our operations. When choosing our partners, whether food and drink related or for our rooms’ proposition, it is crucial that we share the same values and ethics.

“Silentnight’s focus on making every part of their product development, delivery and recycling processes sustainable made them the obvious choice to provide beds for the 56 rooms at The White Horse. We’re confident that by partnering with Silentnight we’re making a long-term decision that will improve the sustainability of our operations and the comfort of every guest that passes through our doors.”

David Lawrenson, sales director at Silentnight, said: “While we’ve worked hard to establish our reputation as a brand able to deliver products to national, household names within the hospitality industry, we know that smaller, boutique businesses also need all the support they can get to decarbonise while keeping guest comfort front of mind. By working with Heartwood, we’re ensuring that one of the country’s most sustainable pub groups can replicate its success in that space to its inns while delivering a good night’s sleep to its guests.”
