The award-winning and boutique Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, nestled in the heart of Newmarket, has just announced its brand new Art Lovers Escape in time for summer. In collaboration with the nearby and well-acclaimed National Horseracing Museum, the package not only includes an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s spacious King Bedrooms, as well as a sumptuous dinner in the two AA rosette Squires Restaurant, but also two complimentary tickets to the much-awaited ‘The Urban Frame: Mutiny in Colour’ exhibition.
Expected to be the largest exhibition of modern art in the country this year, the major Urban Frame: Mutiny in Colour will house over 300 works by 14 leading contemporary artists, including the legendary Banksy, Damien Hurst, Tracey Emin and Pure Evil. Included is the remarkable 7: Banksy Under Siege, a collection of replica life-size walls created by Banksy during his visit to war torn Ukraine back in November 2022. Accompanied by an immersive audio narrative, this is the first time that this spectacular art installation has been seen anywhere in the world. Other highlights include the iconic Hula Hooping Girl and meaningful Sandcastle Girl.
Following a thought-provoking visit to the exhibition, guests can return to Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa for an evening of relaxation and indulgence. Originally a hunting lodge built for the sixth Duke of Bedford in the 18th century, the hotel stays true to its historical roots by offering the perfect blend of old and new, with charming views across famous paddocks and local training stables. Whether it’s relaxing on the sunny terrace with a glass of something special in hand, overlooking the beautiful, manicured gardens with every sip, or opting for an afternoon swim in the 15-meter pool, there’s an array of ways to unwind here.
Come evening, guests can then make their way down to Squires Restaurant, named after the estate’s lessee George Baird aka ‘The Squire’. Baird was a notorious character in the 19th century racing world. Squires offers an eclectic seasonal menu incorporating the finest local ingredients to not only support the community but also reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
