L’OCCITANE spearheads positive change in the premium hospitality industry with sustainable innovations and eco-designed amenities.

As a sustainability pioneer in the premium hospitality industry, L’OCCITANE en Provence is launching new eco-designed amenity ranges for hotels in order to support its commitment to reducing waste. The aim of the new initiative is to support the hospitality sector in effecting positive change in terms of sustainability while enhancing the guest experience.

All of the hotel amenities provided by L’OCCITANE en Provence are expertly formulated at its own laboratory in Provence, in the South of France. The facility ensures that ingredients are sustainably sourced and rich in natural ingredients that respect local biodiversity.

In the war on packaging waste, the brand believes in converting product waste into a valuable resource during the recycling process. Currently, three amenity collections are manufactured from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles: Aromachology, Citrus Verbena and Shea Verbena. Its best-selling range, Verbena, is being relaunched in the same eco-designed packaging for 2023. The objective is to increase the number of recycled bottles used from 20 per cent in 2021 to 75 per cent in 2023. In fact, the brand has committed that by 2025 it will use only recycled plastic bottles made from recycled plastic.

Additionally, in order to reduce the use of small plastic bottles, L’OCCITANE en Provence has provided the industry with larger sized bottles such as its 300ml dispensers. In 2019, it further enhanced its offering with the introduction of one litre eco-refills that give a second life to the dispensers. This year, the brand is going a step further in launching an innovative premium and refillable dispenser for hotels. The state-of-the-art dispenser, made from durable stainless-steel and with recycled and recyclable inner cartridge bottle, also serves to underline the effectiveness of refillable products to reduce packaging waste.

Finally, the latest brand innovation will be launched in May 2022 with the introduction of a new Solid Conditioner to the existing Solid Body Soap and Shampoo range that was introduced last year. The Solid trio promises to positively transform the guest in-room experience and prove a game changer for the hospitality industry as it completely avoids plastic bottle waste.

The brand firmly believes that by reinventing stereotypical room amenities and transforming them into innovative, sustainable solutions, the guest experience will be greatly enhanced, while the planet will benefit.

L’OCCITANE en Provence was recently recognised as one of the most committed brands in the fight against plastics in the 2021 progress report on the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The brand strives to effect positive change in the hospitality industry by prompting a general shift in consciousness towards creating a more environmentally friendly planet.
