Double Dutch, has been certified as a B Corporation following an 18 month assessment process

Independent tonic and mixer brand, Double Dutch, has announced that it has been certified as a B Corporation upon its first application submission.

The only major mixer brand to receive the certification, the twin-founded Double Dutch now stands among the 120 B Corp certified beverage businesses in the UK, highlighting the core values that have been integral to the brand since its inception.

With an unwavering commitment to sustainability and social responsibility the brand has received this prestigious certification this week, achieving an overall B Corp score of 86.9, surpassing the current median score of 50.9 points for businesses that undergo the assessment.

Since 2022, Double Dutch has offset over 140,000 kilos of CO2 in the UK by planting trees in Somerset, resulting in its status as a carbon-neutral brand, and it continues to demonstrate a proactive approach towards environmental responsibility. The company is dedicated to ongoing monitoring of its environmental impact and strives to continuously reduce its business footprint.

The brand is committed to supporting the hospitality sector and recognises the shared responsibility for sustainability goals, and with its new B Corp certification Double Dutch hopes to make it easier for businesses in the industry to make better choices, by providing ethically-conscious, high-quality products and services in an environmentally responsible manner.

Dedicated to doing business the right way, Double Dutch is committed to contributing to positive social change, and is known for its work on inclusivity, notably through initiatives like the Female Bartending scholarship program, and its charitable work with the Princes’ Trust, giving back to the community it is proud to be part of.

Double Dutch has cut down plastic use by 30% since 2021 and is working with companies such as TooGood2Go and Fareshare to help reduce food waste in dated stock. Its glass bottles are currently made with 20% recycled glass, which is an increase from 16% in 2021 (and should be 25% by 2026). The brand has also launched its drinks range in aluminium cans which are 100% and infinitely recyclable, with a lower carbon footprint versus glass bottles.

The female-founded brand grew distribution by 63% last year alone, and has also been awarded IWSC Mixer Producer of the Year. The portfolio includes innovative and flavourful mixers such as ‘Cucumber & Watermelon’, ‘Pomegranate & Basil’, ‘Cranberry & Ginger Tonic’, ‘Pink Grapefruit Soda’, as well as a premium ‘Skinny Tonic Water’, ‘Ginger Ale’ and ‘Ginger Beer’.

The certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit network that ‘strives to transform the global economy to benefit people, communities and the planet’, and is awarded to companies that meet its standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

To get its B Corp designation, Double Dutch had to meet or pass certain levels of social impact between its environmental impact and corporate governance, as well as with its employees, customers, and the drinks community as a whole.
