Hotel professionals within the UK hospitality industry have just one month remaining to apply for a once-in-a-lifetime training opportunity via this year’s Innholder Scholarships.

The scholarships allow for up to 14 select individuals who have demonstrated leadership abilities to continue to grow through one of three training programmes at either Cranfield University, Buckinghamshire, UK, or Cornell University in the USA.

All fully funded for each successful applicant, the programmes are comprised of various modules that provide invaluable skills in leadership and management. Participants will master the art of leading cross-functional teams, adeptly managing perpetual change, cultivating fresh insights and strategies and comprehending their businesses from a global perspective.

Alongside demonstrating an ability to lead and manage teams, applicants will also be assessed on their ability to adapt and overcome challenges, as well as their ability to show a genuine passion for the hospitality industry.

Speaking about the importance of providing training opportunities for young professionals, Dan Rose-Bristow, Chairman of the Master Innholders, said:

“Training opportunities for young professionals in our current economic climate are not only rare, but costly too.

“We are committed to fostering talent and supporting the development of future leaders, and it’s my hope the Innholder Scholarships are just one of the many ways we can help to achieve this. We encourage all passionate and ambitious individuals to seize this chance to unlock their potential and make a positive impact on the industry.”

Previous Innholder Scholarships winners include Rob Flinter MI, General Manager at PPHE Hotel Group, David Lockhart SJS, General Manager at Mondrian Shoreditch Hotel, as well as James Mccomas SJS, General Manager at Champneys Eastwell Manor Hotel & Spa.

Reflecting on his experiences, James McComas SJS said:

“The Innholder Scholarships help build a framework around that experience allowing you to structure and draw upon it through the rest of your career.

“It provides theoretical understanding to the anecdotal learnings which you can project into future scenarios as you continue to grow. It is the door to an exceptional network giving you the chance to draw upon insights from the breadth and depth of an amazing industry.”

Applications for the Innholder Scholarship will close 18 August 2023.
